Mournguard - Spirit Raids is a tactics-based action RPG inspired by games such as Dragon Age 1, NWN, FF12 and White Knight Chronicles.

Currently in core development ; Working on systems, UI, AI, etc. Not so much on content yet.

Notable Features :

  • Rich branching story with meaningful choices; Many moments will unfold in various different ways depending on multiple things. You might enjoy feeling like your choices had real consequences, but what about when your companions actions leave you without choice, or when your actions leave them without hope ?
  • 5  fully-romanceable interesting companions; Each companion has their own goals and open up to you, if you deserve it. Taking the time to complete all content related to them might reveal secrets and change your entire opinion on these characters.
  • Unapologetically queer; The main cast tries to have as much representation as I could achieve with 5 companions, no romance is gender-locked, and people in this world are fine with letting people be who they want to be, even the very evil ones. Such extreme levels of fantasy sadly leaves me with not enough fantasy juice for large beasts such as dragons.
  • Tactics-based combat; The combat uses a classic targeting system loosely inspired by moba games, has few but impactful abilities, and allows you to prepare tactics for your entire party in advance by preparing a list actions and triggers for when to use them, carefully preparing your party can let you go through most fights with little input, if nothing unexpected happens. Fans of FF12 and Dragon Age: Origins will feel at home.
  • Rules-heavy structured magic system; The rune carving magic system, called Thaumagrammy, is intricately tied to the plot as well as systems such as enchanting and spellcasting. It's rules are clearly defined and it's effects on the world and the cultures within are evident. Looking at you Skyrim's "Transmute Mineral Ore", converting iron to silver and silver to gold in a gold-based economy Todd Howard you silly man.
  • No level-scaled or level-gated content; Focus on the main quest and enjoy challenging story bosses, or farm for hours and feel empowered as you then easily dispatch all enemies in your path.
  • Dead simple looter; The gear system is inspired by classic looters, offering lots of loot with randomized modifiers, but instead of only relying on luck to obtain the best gear, every item in the game game be upgraded and modified to suit your needs, providing you have the materials for it.
  • Comprehensible progression; The RPG systems are inspired by tabletop RPGs, so don't expect absurd power scaling with ridiculous nonsensical numbers on the screen. Instead, every increase is small, but easily understandable, no choice is too important, so min-maxing isn't necessary. Make the build you want, it'll work out.
